Meet the Artist
Indianapolis, Indiana photographer Anne Emison Wishard prefers to be out-of-doors and preferably with a camera in her hand. A master-gardener, she is inspired daily by the Jens Jensen landscape architecture outside her door and strives to capture its beauty. While an ardent traveler, many of her images celebrate her home state and city.
Anne studied photography at Indiana University’s Herron School of Art and the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops. She credits her father, Rabb Emison, with having taught her to notice the subtleties in the natural world. A six-month mentorship with Eddie Soloway, who encouraged her to forget the photographic “rules” and to let her heart and lenses work together to create images was the single best thing she did for her photographic education. Her images can be found in both public and private collections.
She has taught courses on macro photography at the Indianapolis Art Center and at her studio as well as photo encaustic at Roberts Camera. She is currently indulging a fascination with encaustic and mixed media.
Her studio is currently located at the Monon Station, 1051 East 54th Street, with the Studio C Arts Collective. Her work can be seen by appointment or during one of the regular open studio events. Please check www.studio-c-arts.com for dates and open hours.
